A SINGER BORN WITH A MUSICAL TALENT: SINGER PRASHNA SHAKYA
Prashna Shakya was born on 26th April in Dharan, Sunsari to father Binod Shakya and mother Sumitra Shakya. She has a younger sister called Mary and younger brother called Prajwal Shakya. She spend her school and childhood days in her home town Dharan itself. As Prashna Shakya grew up with her grandparents Ganesh Shakya and Laxmi Shakya. Since her father Binod Shakya is a sportsman and a coach, wanted her to join the sports, but her keen interest was to music when she was in grade 6- 7.
Prashna Shakya never knew how she was attracted to music, but remembers that once the song used to get play she would just keep her ears into it. She was attracted to the creative field. Dharan a place for entertainment, Prashna wanted to take part in various program being organized but as a child she never had a chance to take part on these shows being afraid with her grandparents.
Prashna Shakya got in deep love with music used buy cassettes and singing along with it and mugged the lyrics too by heart. Prashna started singing in the gumba at her early age, started participating in the talent shows in school and Chimayki Sajh which used to get conducted every year with national singers, which helped her capitalize on her singing skills. Prashna Shakya joined Padma kanya Campus and did Bachelors in Music. She also joined private instituted Do, Re, Mi and Gandharva to increase her musical knowledge. She got musically trained from Bal Mukunda Banepali (the one who guides her to Radio Nepal and made a big support in her musical career in Dharan), Dibya Khaling, Prakash Gurung, Ratna Bh. Khadgi, Anushree Benergee, Sandesh Shrestha, Bhola Rai and Bijay Singh Munal,She loves listening to songs of Narayan Gopal, Aruna Lama, Gulam Ali, Shreya Ghoshal, Tara Thapa, Bhakta Raj Acharya and Deep Shrestha, Satya Swaroop, Anju Panta and Juna Prasai.
After backing with top 6 positions in the radio Nepal singing competition, she was offered with various opportunities in her hand. She participated in a national talents show called "TIMRO SUR MERO GEET" where she emerged as a winner which was a turning point of her musical career, where as Legendary Singer Deep Shrestha and Prakash Gurung were the two people in her musical turning point. Prashna Shakya was introduced to composer and arranger Maharaj Thapa to sing a song of his composition "MAUN" from the album AWAAZ. In the year 2003 she was awarded with "BEST POP PERFORMANCE FEMALE” organized by Hits Fm Award. Prashna Shakya debuted her first solo album "HI HELLO" at the early age of 16. Then release of her 2nd album "AAWAZ "which turned a huge market success and 3rd album "UDAYAN ". There was no looking back after that and Prashna delivered hit after hits, singing countless songs in Nepali movies and collection albums.
Some of Prashna Shakya popular songs are- Aawaj Deu, Badal Barsha (Movie- Kartavya),Gaule Jeevan with NSK, Mutu Nai Chirideu, Pal Pal, Lamo Bato, Ekhashi Ko , Akhama Ayera with Santosh Khadgi, Lhasa Ko Chiso, Jamara Ma Jau, Oielaeko Phool(Movie- Bato Muni Ko Phool) and many other hit numbers. She says "During my starting days of struggling in music it was bit difficult for me, but continuous support and blessing of family has made me faced with all the difficulties that used to come a head me.
Prashna Shakya expresses her happiness saying that "Today I find lots of good musical talents coming to Nepali Music Industry and recognize the name of the country worldwide. Hard work, Determination, Honesty and Focus on work not losing hope will surely lead to path of success. Recently, Prashna Shakya has launched her 4TH solo album "PRASHNA" after 6 years of gap. The album consists of 5 songs with "Ma Ta Sojhi", "Lamo Bato", "Shiraima Shirbandi", "Eh Hawa"and " Binti". The songs are written by Naresh Bhattarai, Sarita Tuladhar, Neelam Anguhand Rai. Whereas, the song are composed by Sunil Maskey, Phurba Sherpa, Sachin Singh, Hari Lamsal, Prabin Baraily and arranged by Maharaj Thapa , Shailendra Pradhan, Gopal Rasaily and Uday Raj Paudel. The two songs " Lamo Bato " is directed by Sumit Khadka (Shark Production ) and " Ma Ta Sojhi" is directed by Nikesh Khadka. Let's all watch beautiful video "Ma Ta Sojhi" by Prashna Shakya.
